Nollywood is the bustling mega of Nigerian Cinema that produces about 1,500 films annually. Just back in 2011 Nollywood was worth a reported 800 million dollars. By 2014, it would be worth $3.3 billion. Nollywood can be hard to define considering the totality of activities that take place in the Nigerian film industry in many different languages, permitting movies to be in English, Yourba, Hausa, Igbo, Itsekivi, Ebo, Efik, Ijaw, Urthobo or any other of the 300 Nigerian languages. Also this is to include Nollywood's Ghanaian film industry affiliations through their English-language cinema. Isn't this an alluring design. It amuses me, yet awakens me to an idea as to how powerful and influential the African Diaspora truly can be. It's a movement and it's moving fast.

One major player here in New Orleans bringing awareness to this social phenomenon is Dashiki Diaries. With their commitment to facilitating connections in a commonly shared culture within the African Diaspora, Dashiki Diaries is branding their network of industry leaders and creating events to showcase the lifestyle of this expanding global enclave while bringing collaborations together. Isn't this a beautiful thing. It's really an amazing time to be alive. Wouldn't you say?

On April 27th, Dashiki Diaries held its 2nd annual Hollywood meets Nollywood event at The New Orleans Jazz Market, in Central City,  themed "A Night with The Royals". Partnered with Stanford Film Production, Dashiki Diaries presented an open panel and a private screening of the poetic love story "Different Worlds". From New Orleans to Nigeria the featured actors were from both America and West Africa, an epic collaboration in Nollywood Cinema. A collaboration facilitated by Dashiki Diaries around this time last year with the 1st annual Hollywood meets Nollywood event, marrying the African Diaspora of Hollywood to Nollywood.

Tadasay Young, the lead actress in "Different Worlds", is an up and coming artist here in New Orleans, Louisiana with the Beck Talent Agency and Launch Model and Talent Academy. Kenneth Okolie is the lead Nigerian actor in this film  and was  also the winner of the 2nd edition of Mr. Nigeria in 2010. Ngozi Ezeonu, who plays Prince Ikenna's mother, is a very well known Nigerian actress who has been nominated as the best supporting actress in the 8th annual Africa Movie Academy Awards. Kofi Adjorlolo plays the King and is a Ghanaian actor and movie producer. Also, Lilian Esoro who plays the Princess is a Nigerian actress who has been nominated for best actress in a comedy in 2013 at the Africa Magic Viewer Choice Awards.
If Hollywood could talk, I am sure it would say the legendary closing line from one of it's biggest love story blockbusters. (1) "Welcome to Hollywood! What's your dream? Everybody comes here. This is Hollywood, land of dreams. Some dreams come true, some don't, but keep on dreaming. This is Hollywood, always time to dream, so keep on dreaming!" Welcome Nollywood, it's always time to dream, so keep on dreaming.

Great review dear, very articulate and lovely. My dear there is a minor error on the name, my picture is with Ngozi Ezeonu and Charity Awoke and not Lilian Esoro. Please make corrections if possible. Thanks for a great and wonderful review. Keep up the good work.
