With summer fast approaching, beginning June 21st 2019, it's the perfect weather to sit poolside enjoying a cool mixed drink, maybe even a bite to eat. The sun and new moon will be in Gemini by June 3rd, ushering in new activity, new situations and new people that will promote life, growth and abundance along with the feeling of fun packing the air. This is a great time to be out, socializing and living it up! What's a more perfect place than The Roosevelt New Orleans, rooftop, poolside and celebrating the hotels's 125th Anniversary? An excellent, witness account, way to end Spring.
The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel has been welcoming visitors to its Rooftop Pool to enjoy the view and luxury service while experiencing creative culinary cuisine from local New Orleans' Chefs. The hotel began it's celebration on Thursday, May 2nd and continued every Thursday from May 16th until May 30th. The Roosevelt will be hosting its last event of the Rooftop Chef Pop-up Series on June 6th. Now would you look at that, this is the perfect Gemini energy to harness. So, get out and have some fun! |
On May 23rd, Chef Ericka Lassair was the featured Chef at the Roosevelt Rooftop Pop-up Series. It was surprisingly cooler then I anticipated, with a slight breeze blowing. Pleasant spring, I underestimated you. Yet, nothing calls to summer more than a good hot dog, well a Diva Dawg, I should say. Yes, you heard me. Diva! Chef Ericka brings out the diva in you, with her creative concept, using very unique calling cards for each order place with the Diva Dawg. It's a great conversation piece while you're waiting for your order. (Hint Hint: So gentlemen, if you are ever at the Diva Dawg Food Truck and... there is a beautiful women, that you really wish you knew what to say to, just ask her, "What Diva are you?" LOL, you got this!) |
I stumbled upon Chef Diva Lassair a few months ago, before I ever became aware of her story. Unable to recall what lead me to her, I thought wow, what an inspiring journey! Chef Ericka actually started out owning a storefront restaurant on Magazine Street across from Stardust Salon and Day Spa. However, foot traffic was so low that it made it very difficult to generate a profit, which in turn forced Chef Ericka to soon close the doors of her restaurant. Feeling like she hit rock bottom, Ericka decided to pick up a night positions as a chef at The Roosevelt New Orleans. One day a friend told her about an opportunity that she thought Ericka would be the perfect fit for, the Urban League of Louisiana annual Women in Business Challenge. Ericka took the challenge and won $10,000. She then used her winnings to buy the Diva Dawg food truck, which subsequently opened many other door of opportunity for her. Ironically, I am sure, she never guessed that she'd later become a featured Chef showcased on the Rooftop of The Roosevelt for their 125th year Anniversary. My, how the table can turn, when the faith you have is acted upon. Action is a key word. I think it is a very important word. Action. It will never be enough to just dream about the life you desire. You have to create it, with spirit.
